Sebastian Telfair: Through The Fire (Part 1)

Posted by tipster on under Results | 25 Comments to Read

The Jonathan Hock documentary “Through the Fire” tracks the Coney Island product’s evolution from high school phenom to NBA lottery pick. Along the way, Telfair contemplates a scholarship offer from Rick Pitino at the University of Louisville, struggles with the violence of his Brooklyn neighborhood and consumes himself with the desire to get his family out of the projects. Having seen cousin and NBA star Stephon Marbury make it, Telfair knows big league dreams are within reach. However, Telfair’s greatest source of inspiration is his older brother Jamel Thomas, who serves as a cautionary tale of just how elusive an NBA career can be. (This is Part 1 of 14)

  • itsyaboy41 said,

@younqwayne just cause you go to college doesnt mean you re gonna be a better player. he could have went to college and not went pro, you dont know what can happen to you in that time span. he made the right choice

    his brothers a beast

everyone saying sebastian fucked up by not going to college he’s made close to 12 million for being a bench warmer. his draft stock would’ve dropped had he been exposed at louisville. he took the guaranteed money, sure he aint a superstar but better an average nba player with millions than an average dude playing in europe making 50k a season.

Nuttin wrong with havin a 9 : 5, but I’m mos def feelin you on being broke and taking your fam outta of it.
He had a shoe deal before even playin in the NBA!
What if he went to college and got hurt, his fam wudda still been in the hood. He can pay to go to any college he want now.
College ball is a great option for people who come from previledge families, but Why not make enough loot LEGALLY just by signing now. Great documentary. I wished they wudda showed more about his brother too.

  • MrPhillyrick1 said,

im laughing at losers on here saying he should have walked away from millions. who do you know thats been poor their entire life would walk away from millions? or delay millions for that matter.

go play in college for free and help some school make millions? and your family is poor?

that college shit yall talking is dumb. he’s getting millions to play the bench.
he basically an intern getting paid.

now get up for the dead end job losers!

this man should have went to college, good thing they changed the rule. It’s great for college basketball

  • yogd4life said,

Hes good but not a superstar like Lebron or Kobe. The part where he says he just wants to play basketball all his life well thats sad cuz theres more to life than basketball. People from places like this (hood) dont know whats really going on in the world and all they care about is basketball because thats what america wants them to think. Its really sad

  • hippopotomonstroses1 said,

    he sucks ass
instead of going pro he should have come to louisville
